This topic describes how to add pages, or tabs, to your course.
By default, your course includes these pages.
You can change the order of the Discussion, Wiki, and Progress pages, and you can hide the Wiki page.
You can add pages to your course. Each page appears for learners in the navigation bar for your course.
For example, the following navigation bar includes the default pages as well as the additional Course Schedule and Supplements & Instructor’s blog pages.
You can create other pages for the grading policy, course slides, or any other purpose. More examples of pages you can add follow.
In Studio, from the Content menu, select Pages. A page titled Pages opens. This page contains a list of the pages that appear in the navigation bar in your course.
Select Add a New Page. A page with the title Empty is added to the list.
In the row for the new page, select Edit. The HTML editor opens.
Enter content for your page.
For more information about using the editor, see Options for Editing HTML Components.
Select Settings to edit the Display Name. The display name is the name of the page visible to learners in the course.
Select Save.
The new page is immediately available to learners if the course has started.
By default, your course includes a wiki page. Learners and the course team can use the wiki to post content as well as comment on other people’s content. For details, see Using the Course Wiki.
If you do not want to use a wiki in your course, you can hide the page.
In the Pages list, the eye icon that appears next to the Wiki page indicates that the wiki is visible in your course.
Select the eye icon to hide the Wiki page. The icon changes as shown in this example.
Select it again to make the Wiki page visible.
Note
Content remains in the wiki when you hide the page. For example, if a student bookmarks a wiki topic, then you hide the Wiki page, the student can still use the bookmark to access that wiki topic. All content that was previously posted in the wiki remains available after you hide the wiki page, and any students logged in to edX can access the content if they know the URL.
To reorder the pages in your course you can drag a page to different location in the navigation bar and drop it there.
To move a page, hover over the element handle on the right side of the page row until the mouse pointer changes to a four-headed arrow. Then select and drag the page to the location that you want.
Note
You cannot reorder the Courseware or Course Info pages.
To delete a page that you previously added, select the trash can icon in the row for the page. You are prompted to confirm the deletion.
Note
You cannot delete the Courseware, Course Info, Discussion, or Progress pages. You can hide the course Wiki page.
You can use the following code in a page to provide a dynamic HTML schedule in your course.
Note
Paste the following code into the page using either the visual editor or the raw HTML editor. Do not paste the code directly into the visual editor.
